O.J. Simpson is out here trying to tell Colin Kaepernick what he should and should not be attacking. Yes, O.J.—a man who, in a tape from 2006 leaked four days ago, described a suspicious 'hypothetical' murder of his own wife and Ron Goldman in chilling detail—said of Kaepernick's police brutality (not flag) protests: "I really appreciate what he was trying to say. I thought he made a bad choice in attacking the flag."

O.J. agreed to a rare interview with the Buffalo News in Las Vegas, published Friday, that goes into all kinds of subjects, including Donald Trump, CTE, prison, the Buffalo Bills, and a whole lot more. He also refers to the murders as "all that L.A. crap" at one point.

When the conversation started about his friendship with Trump in the 90s—O.J. attended the president's second of three weddings in 1993 and used to golf with him—he insisted that he doesn't agree politically with Trump. But when it came to Trump's views on Kaepernick and player protests, well…

Simpson generally agrees with the president about Colin Kaepernick and other players who've demonstrated during the national anthem before games.

"I think Colin made a mistake," Simpson said. "I really appreciate what he was trying to say. I thought he made a bad choice in attacking the flag.

"I grew up at a time when deacons were in the KKK. I don't disrespect the Bible because of those guys. The flag shouldn't be disrespected because of what cops do. The flag represents what we want America to be."

"When he did it the first time I thought, 'Well, you took a gamble, and I give you credit.' But it was him continuing to do it where he made the biggest mistake."

"I'm a firm believer of doing what you think is right, but I would always stand for the flag."
