Quick Hit: Roma Fight Russian Police Over Energy Access

Riot police in southern Russia clash with members of a Roma community near the city of Tula over unauthorized use of the local energy supply.

Hundreds of Russian riot police confronted members of a Roma community near the southern city of Tula on Thursday. Authorities say that Roma residents illegally tapped into the gas pipeline, and tampering with it cut access to nearly 400 homes. The Roma tried to block Gazprom employees from working on the pipeline, demanding access to their homes as well.
