When Christiana Smith was 17, she filmed a short documentary about her experience and perspective as a black female skater called Skate in a Dress. The video gained traction and opened her eyes to another purpose: A Positive Seed, which she founded in 2017. Through her organization, Smith uses the community of skateboarding to create more inclusive spaces for people to come together and make a difference.

Boardly is a video series that spotlights women from all walks of life who share one thing in common: a passion for skateboarding that has shaped who they are in equally different, yet unique ways. Each episode seeks to offer a distinct perspective on the ways women can get involved in the art form. Watch more Boardly. Created with Vans.
