Finally something Republicans and Democrats can agree on: They hate this guy

A nation united at last

FBI agent Peter Strzok has managed an incredible feat — he’s united both Democrats and Republicans in their hatred of him.

Strzok, the FBI agent recently casually accused of “treason” by the president of the United States, wrote the original draft for the letter that reopened the FBI investigation into Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server while she was secretary of state, according to emails obtained by CNN.

Strzok, who is also at the center of another controversy concerning anti-Trump text messages he exchanged with another FBI agent, not only supported reopening the investigation into Clinton’s email use after emails were discovered on Anthony Weiner’s laptop, but also sent an initial draft of the letter that fired FBI Director James Comey.

Strzok did, however, express some trepidation about issuing a public statement on the matter, according to CNN’s report.

Democrats — and Hillary Clinton — herself have pointed to Comey’s letter, released days before the election, as a major reason for her defeat.

Meanwhile, top Republicans have accused Strzok of attempting to undermine Trump’s chances during the 2016 presidential election while bolstering Clinton’s likelihood of winning the White House. Strzok was removed last year from his position as a top investigator in special counsel Robert Mueller’s probe into the Trump campaign’s ties to Russia.

In an August 2016 text message to his colleague, Strzok wrote of Trump: “I want to believe the path you threw out for consideration…that there’s no way he gets elected—but I’m afraid we can’t take that risk. It’s like an insurance policy in the unlikely event you die before you’re 40.”

The president eventually likened Strzok’s text messages to treason.

“This is the FBI we’re talking about — that is treason,” the president said in an interview with the Wall Street Journal earlier this month. “That is a treasonous act. What he tweeted to his lover is a treasonous act.”
