We’re Doing Grime *and* Hip-Hop Karaoke at Fresh Island Festival

Hosted in Croatia by Poet plus Mike Skinner and Murkage Dave's Tonga party, all that's missing is you and your mates.

Heatwave, eh lads? How about all that sun then? If you live in the UK, have you ever in your life enjoyed and/or endured more conversations about temperatures on this damp little island scaling over the 30-degree mark and laughing directly in the face of your control over your sweat glands? Probably not, if you were born anytime after like 1984 because this week just gone has been carefully noted down as including the hottest June day since 1976. Related: no one has air conditioning at home, naturally.

But consider these past few days a primer for the sort of ludicrously warm fun you could be having in a couple of weeks, with us Noisey lot. We've been dropping hints about this year's Fresh Island festival for ages now, where you'll be able to crack open a cold one of your choice on Croatia's Pag island watching acts from Rae Sremmurd and Lady Leshurr to Giggs and Young Thug in mid-July. We can now confirm that under their Tonga party project, both Mike Skinner – he of recent "who's this guy??" YouTube fame, as expressed in comments from clueless teenagers under our recent documentary on UK street rap – and Murkage Dave will be joining Poet to host our grime and hip-hop karaoke at a pool party on Wednesday 12 July. It'll be going down at the festival's Kalypso area from 3PM to 8PM and most likely helping punters form the sorts of hazy, salty-skin-warm memories that'll stick with you for longer than an ice lolly binds your fingers together.

Tickets are still going, just about. The scene is set: some bobbing pool inflatables, your mate trying to make you laugh so you flub a lyric in "Talking Da Hardest" while Poet, Skinner and Dave making the whole thing tick. You'll also be able to catch Tonga later that night at Kalypso, when Lady Leshurr will be making her aforementioned appearance. See you then – just try to keep chat about the weather to a minimum, won't you?
