Alabama Facemask No-Call Leads To Touchdown

A clear facemask penalty was not called and directly impacted the play that resulted in an Alabama fumble recovery and touchdown.

A clear facemask penalty from Alabama's Cyrus Jones went uncalled and directly lead to an Ole Miss fumble. Jones was able to scoop up the dropped ball and carry it into the endzone for a backbreaking Alabama touchdown at the end of the half. The Crimson Tide took a 14-3 lead into the locker room and Ole Miss went from hanging in against the top team in college football to facing a double-digit deficit.

CBS's Gary Danielson pointed this out later in the broadcast, but if you watch the facemask, once I'Tavius Mathers's head gets yanked back, it also brings his ball-carrying arm closer to Jones and exposes the football. Jones then swats the ball away and picks it up for the score.
