Derek's niece Jennifer reached out to local newspaper The Bristol Post, as well as Bristol's mayor George Ferguson, on Twitter urging them to help her widen the search for her uncle. Morris is a hugely loved character in Bristol for obvious reasons. His reliable blend of reggae, ska, and soul have been filling the city's venues, and major festivals for a number of years. Over the years he has won the support of his home-town in Bristol, largely the area of St Pauls, as well as finding fans in the shape of Massive Attack and Glastonbury Festival. Add to this the inimitable Jamaican patois he MCs with, and the fact he has risen to fame at a much older age than most DJs, and it is easy to see why the news of his disappearance is provoking genuine and widespread sadness. Footage embedded below of his last ever outdoor set showcases his charm.

Anybody with information regarding Derek Morris' whereabouts should contact Avon and Somerset Police via the non-emergency 101 number.
