49ers QB Blaine Gabbert is Greeted by an Empty Press Conference, Fields His Own Questions

It was a lonely sight.

Sure, it's Thanksgiving time for the rest of us, but it's Christmas time for Blaine Gabbert and the 49ers—that is, in the sad Charlie Brown kind of way. Yesterday, the 49ers backup quarterback went to a press conference, only to find the room completely empty. Not a single reporter. So Gabbert hopped into the seats and started fielding his own damn questions.

"Why was it 35 degrees this morning?" Gabbert asks himself, without much of an answer. "I don't remember it being this cold last year."

It's the kind of quandary that has been plaguing the usually-temperate Bay Area, as the once-hot 49ers are now finding themselves in the negative Kelvins this year. They went from being a 12-4 NFC-Championship contending team in 2013, to an 8-8 Harbaugh-firing, playoff-non-contending team in 2014. And now they've found themselves at a dreary 3-7 in late November, waffling about whether or not there's a future for their once beloved and now injured Colin Kaepernick at QB.

It turns out that the empty press conference wasn't Gabbert's fault—as if that storyline isn't attractive enough—but rather the 49ers had messed up and neglected to inform the media about scheduling the press conference, according to Fox Sports. Nevertheless, Gabbert handled the situation like a champ. Let's just hope he starts playing like one.
