2013 is all about starting from scratch for Mark Barott. The man behind International Feel and several other aliases and back stories has a new offshoot project that he calls The Sonic Aesthetic. After setting up shop and working out of his most recent home base in Uruguay he has come to us presenting his new vision along with a new blog and a debut 12" called "Tales From The Nocturn."Upon reading this you may be wondering why the man behind so many musical accomplishments would give himself a make over. It turns out it's kind of his thing. He has been reinventing himself for almost three decades, and is currently making his music based on impulse. This techno chameleon wants to give his listeners the fastest route into his conscious. "For me right now it's all about the Ginsberg philosophy- First Idea/Best Idea" he explains "It's about having an idea and executing it as quickly as possible to maintain the freshness."Directed and Edited by Annie Watson and Christopher Hall, this video was made using a combination of hand processed and negative 16 mm film. Barrott's time spent in Ibiza and Berlin seem to have a great influence on this video. It reflects the aftermath of many long nights turned long mornings and it gave us a very "I just got back from being at the club for two straight days" feel. When asked about his new after hours look Barrott implied that International Feel isn't done yet, but he will be living the life of The Sonic Aesthetic for a while.Listen to The Sonic Aesthetic here.
