Ben Sims Channels his Alter-Ego Ron Bacardi for “Make Some Love”

The KRLVK series leaps into the experienced hands of Sims and makes itself at home.

Before doing the Queen's wave to the UK while on route to Hart Plaza, Ben Sims is serving a hot plate of new recordings on Karlovak and THUMP is picking up the tab.

"Make Some Love" is the first impression of Karlovak Recordings' new series KRLVK. Coming off the EP Crisco Disco Biscuits Vol 1, Sims channels his dance music alter-ego, Ron Bacardi, for the four original tracks. After a batch of KRLVK records by label heads Mr. Tophat & Art Alfie, the series leaps into the experienced hands of Sims and makes itself at home.

"The tracks were mainly put together for a house and disco set I did in London, under 'Ron Bacardi', as a secret room, two hour set for a Machine party," explains Sims. "It's kind of different to the music I had been making and producing at the time, but they [Karlovak] were really into them, so I did a couple more."

There's really no other way to put it—this tune is bound for Movement Detroit. "The pressure is always on in Detroit because I care about playing there," says Sims. "I'm always both nervous and keen to go back and do my thing."
