Francisco Allendes Makes a Rollicking Return to Desolat

The Chilean producer unveils a whole "new sonic universe" of sound.

Franciso Allendes is making a welcome return to Loco Dice's Desolat imprint this month. On the forthcoming EP, Aroa Leon, the Chilean producer promises something brand new. "I made big changes in my studio last year," Allendes says, "selling most of my hardware and adopting a eurorack modular system as the main sound generator."

"The machine delivers melodies or sequences that you would never create on a normal drum machine or synth," he continues, "making a whole new sonic universe available to me."

The transformation is no more evident than on "Aroa Leon", the unhinged EP's finale, filled with kinetic energy in the form of sleazy drums and jittery percussion. It's a lively, arresting cut that marks an advanced sound for Francisco Allendes, while never straying too far from the chunky Desolat blueprint we know and love.
