Witness The Best Of DIY Culture And Technology At Maker Faire NYC [Ticket Giveaway]

World Maker Faire returns to New York for a two-day exhibition this weekend.

When the first World’s Fairs emerged during the Industrial era they were the pivotal (and only) platform for announcing the latest state-of-the-art advancements in the arts, science and technology. These fairs provided a forum for integrating inventors and “makers” with the general public in order to imagine the possibilities the future may bring and inspire wonder and awe. The World’s Fairs may be long gone, but thankfully Maker Faire (from our friends at MAKE Magazine) has been continuing the time-honored tradition for several years now. This weekend, September 17-18th, World Maker Faire returns to returns to the New York Hall of Science (NYSCI) to bring us the best in DIY science and tech culture.

Over 500 makers will exhibit at this year’s fair alongside a crafts pavilion, a whole village dedicated to 3D printing and a special homage to the game-changing Arduino microcontroller. Some other exhibitions we’re dying to check out are the glowing Wonderfall, the interactive Anywhere Organ music sculpture, the Coke Zero & Mentos fountain (image below) and the Deconstruction Zone, where you can take apart and smash all kinds of electronics (sounds pretty therapeutic, doesn’t it?).

Coke Zero & Mentos fountain. You know you’ve always wanted to experience this in real life.

Once again, we’re giving away four free tickets to the festival. Show us your favorite art hack or DIY project. The wildest, weirdest, craziest, most inventive thing you’ve come across while roaming the interwebs. You can submit your favorite hack by tweeting us @CreatorsProject or commenting below. Make sure to check out last year’s winning entries here for some inspiration.
