Many cities now come equipped with skyscrapers that change colors to indicate the weather, major home team sports wins or visiting dignitaries, but none are doing it with as much pizazz as the Belgians. Dexia tower in Brussels has recently been transformed into a weather forecasting light installation by Belgian design studio lab [au]. The building’s 6,000 windows have been outfitted with around 12 LED lights each to create geometrical patterns and visuals indicating temperature and climate changes in the atmosphere. The changing colors and shapes are based on data of the temperature, cloudiness, precipitation and wind, and are essentially a public real-time weather forecast. Hopefully, the building will be more accurate than your local weatherman.[via designboom]
