Bound And Gagged: Building Wrapped In Leather Cords Proposed For Tokyo Fashion Museum

Polish architecture and design studio MUS Architects design a fashion-forward façade.

This building concept from Polish architecture and design studio MUS Architects proposes one breathtakingly fashion-forward façade for Tokyo’s Fashion Museum. Using an irregular stacked cube-like structure reminiscent of New York’s New Museum, the designers have added an intricately patterned layer of homogenic leather that wraps around the exterior, creating a plait-like look.

The woven appearance is meant to resemble the look and feel of textiles and the woven fibers that comprise them. There are actually two layers of cord used to create the mesh-like technique—one layer of fiber winds around the building clockwise, the other one counter-clockwise—and the density of the netting is adjusted to create varying lighting conditions, openings in the structure, and create an overall appealing composition.

We love the look of this futuristic tower. Check out more images and concept renderings below, courtesy of MUS Architects.
