Kazu: San Clemente.Aaaaaaah, San Clemente. How quickly would it take you to leave Southern California and get to the mountains?
I would go to Mammoth.I guess Mammoth would be sort of safe; it’s high up. Where would you go if the apocalypse came?
I would go back to Japan. If the zombie apocalypse came would you be a zombie or try to carry the torch of humanity? It’s a tough one, I know.
A zombie.

Yeah. Why would going back to Japan be better than staying here in the US?
I have a family and a dog there. What do you think would be the best zombie weapon?
Snowboard.Where does your family live in Japan? Do they live high up?
Yeah, in Hokkaido.Good point of view so you can see people coming. That makes sense.
Yeah!--OK, I’ll throw some quick questions at you to start. For ferries: Viking Line or Silja Line?
Jussi Oksanen: Silja Line. Viking Line is more like a party boat. That’s when you’re young. When I’m with my family I go Silja Line. Viking Line is a little rowdier. You get laid on the Viking Line.Lapin Kulta or Longdrink?
Lapiculta for sure. Longdrink is like if you’re not feeling it. You try a couple of those and then you get into the groove.Longdrink—I don’t understand those, it’s like for kids.
Yeah we used to hammer those when we were kids, drink until you puke.

The rolled ciggies for sure.

I do. Because I grew up with forests around where I could build tree forts and play in the lakes. The surf is not so good in Finland, though. No, the Baltic is not so good for surfing. Where would be a better place to be for the apocalypse?
Finland. There’s a lot more places better for survival. What kind of apocalypse do you think it would be? Natural disaster, monsters, disease?
Probably alcohol.

In California it’s pretty dicey there for sure with earthquakes and the ocean is there and then LA is not far away. And California has no water resources, but if you were in Finland, no problem. There was a power outage just a week ago (in Encinitas) and nothing worked. We interviewed Scotty Wittlake, the pro snowboarder a few months ago and he and his girlfriend were already looking for land to survive on and had their disaster kits ready.
I have full-on disaster kits too. I have kids and we already had to prepare our house once because of the fires. Four years ago the smoke got so bad you couldn’t even see the sun.In Finland do lots of homes have bomb shelters?
Maybe not every house, but every town has a bomb shelter. And in the winter they use it for like soccer and badminton.--Do you every see Shawn Farmer out there on the lake?
Danny Davis: No, but I see him around town. Noah Salasnek you see sometimes.

Guy Fieri? Why does that sound so familiar?

Oh is it that dude with the blonde hair? No, I’ve never met him. Yeah, he goes to the Diner, Squeeze In, Burger Joint. He’s all around town; they love him in Truckee.I wonder if he pays a lot of money to keep his hair looking like that.
I don’t think it costs a lot of money to bleach your hair looking all platinum blonde, but he’s definitely doing it once a month. But yeah, he’s like the man, man.Do you get the tuna burger there?
I’m not a big Burger Me person. When I’m there I usually get the Buffalo Burger. I’m more into the diner (Jax). I know the owner there and he’s got a young kid that’s trying to be a pro shredder. There’s not a lot for Truckee eating though.Taco Jalisco.
Oh, Jalisco’s is bomb.

Oh man, you’re caught up on Truckee livin’!Well we go there a lot to shoot. We make Powder & Rails.
Oh is that like the VBS thing?Yeah.
Oh I love those! That’s sick.Did you ever have to bail Farmer out of a fight?
No, he was dating this girl I know’s mom. So I would go over there and he would be on the couch. And one time we were at the same party and people were playing Grateful Dead and he was like, what is this crap?So do you think Truckee would be a good place to ride out the apocalypse?
You know what? My friends are kind of into that. They got like a good mess of guns stocked up. But yeah, sure. Why not? We’re way above sea level.

Yeah, it would be better than down in the bay. Lots of animals, lots of meat. It looks like the East Coast has been getting hit now.

With a flint, yeah, I have. No, I mean with just like rubbing sticks together. I tried it the other day and I thought no problem and I wasn’t able to do it. I had to go and watch YouTube videos to figure it out.
I don’t think I could do it man. I’m good at camping, but I’m not that good. I can’t gut a deer by myself or anything. There are a couple things I need to learn before 2012 like how to gut an animal and what to do with all that meat.
