MELBOURNE - GARAGE TO V STATE FINALS @ TOFF THIS WED

After a while it gets slightly pointless being in a band if you can’t afford to eat, let alone record and release all the music you spend your entire life writing. There’s a lot of bands out there to compete with and sometimes you have to streak across the oval with your band name written on your ass just to get people to take notice. Battles of the bands and band competitions are also a great option and while we’re not short of either in Australia, it’s competitions like Virgin Mobile’s Garage to V that actually have the power to change the future of your band, forever.

In our last Festival Guide which we released last year, we told you all how to enter to be part of Garage to V. Obviously some of you heeded our advice and we can now announce that the solid line of Victorian finalists are: Little Red, Aleks and the Ramps, Tic Toc Tokyo and Armen Firman. We’re going to spare you the lengthy descriptions about what their music sounds like but tell you instead that if you go to garage2v.com.au, you can hear tracks from each of these fine bands and make up your own damn mind.

The Melbourne final is happening at The Toff on this Wednesday 27th February, with judges such as Will Larnach-Jones deciding their destiny. The state winner will then perform in the grand final in Sydney on the 13th March at the Oxford Arts Factory and the winner of that will get to join the V Festival tour to play on an enourmously massive stage which is likely to scare the shit out of them. Go to garage2v.com.au for full details.
