Before Ostgut Ton and the like turned the dance world into a monochromatic zone of chiaroscuro clubbing, French labels like Ed Banger and Kitsuné flew the technicolor-dreamflag for neon spattered, hyperactive, big, bold, brassy, brash bloghouse that pumped round basements battering the streetwear'n'chains clad hordes with bulging basslines.
Though web 2.0 sort of died and we all abandoned Blogspot, those aforementioned labels are still plugging away, presumably helping pay the rent on swanky Parisian pleasure-palaces and for the Ubers that catapult young go-getters from one free-booze private view to the next. Ed Banger have stuck to whipping out the big guns — Feadz, Busy P, Mr Oizo — when necessary, and Kitsuné have kept things consistent with their regular Maison compilations. That's not to say that neither pushes new talent, though, and Lyonnaise producer Pyramid — signed to the latter label — is the cream of the crop.
Having just released the wonderful Night Tales EP on the esteemed French label, we asked Pyramid to slip together a dreamy half hour of blissed out sunset house. He duly obliged. Hear the results below.
