Donovan McNabb Said he was Taking Chlorophyll as a Cold Medicine During DUI Arrest

Donovan McNabb said he was taking a cold medicine called "chlorophyll" during his DUI arrest last month.

Donovan McNabb was arrested for DUI on June 28th after rear-ending a car at stop light in Arizona and it was his second such arrest in as many years. In April of last year, McNabb served one day in jail as result of a December 2013 arrest.

Here's video, via TMZ, of McNabb's encounter with the police last month and he is pretty adamant that he was not drunk and had not been drinking. He told the officer that he was sick and had been using cough syrup and cough drops, which might explain the smell of alcohol. He was polite and courteous the entire time, but when asked what type of medicine he had been using he said "chlorophyll" which is not so much a cough medicine as it is a critical element in photosynthesis, the process by which plants convert sunlight into oxygen.

Obviously, he meant to say "chloraseptic," that gross stuff you spray into the back of your through when you're sick, but his mind jumped to biology instead. That, coupled with rambling answers to pretty straightforward questions, and some failed field sobriety tests led to his eventual arrest.

McNabb has been suspended indefinitely by Fox Sports and has taken a leave of absence from NBC Sports, where he has a radio show.
