Brandon Phillips Pranks Juan Uribe at Second, Nearly Gives Him a Heart Attack

This would have been pretty embarrassing for Uribe, but it was just a prank so we can all laugh about it.

After a single and a sacrifice bunt in the sixth inning, Juan Uribe found himself on second base and the subject of a pretty great prank from Reds second baseman Brandon Phillips. Rajai Davis took the first pitch of his at bat for a ball and, as you might expect, Reds catcher Tucker Barnhart threw the ball back to reliever Keyvius Sampson for the next pitch. During the lull in play, Uribe milled around near the bag, but was not actually on it. No big deal, though, because the pitcher had the ball and was getting ready to deliver the next pitch to Davis. Uribe has spent the better part of his life understanding that this is how baseball works.

Brandon Phillips noticed Uribe was sort of being casual so Phillips decided to give him a scare. Phillips pulled out the old hidden ball trick that wasn't actually the hidden ball trick because Phillips didn't have the ball in the first place. Phillips slapped his glove on Uribe's bottom, and for a split second Uribe thought he had been nabbed, which nearly gave the poor guy a heart attack of embarrassment and shame. Phillips let him stew for about one second and then smiled at him. Everyone got a good chuckle out if it, even the umpire.

Davis then doubled in Uribe to give the Indians a 7-2 lead, and that score held up for the rest of the game.
