Adrian Beltre hit a solo home run in the seventh inning against the Athletics yesterday, but it was a long a treacherous path to get there, and he wasn't even out of harm's way by the time he got to the dugout. First, as you can see above, Evan Scribner fooled Beltre so badly with a curveball that he went spinning on one knee trying to hit it.
Beltre gathered himself for one final pass, though, and muscled a home run over the fence in left-center field. Still, it did not come easy as he was nearly fooled a second time. He went down to one knee again, but was able to get the bat on the ball and make solid enough contact to drive it out of play. He went rounding the bases a conquering hero, until he approached the dugout. That's when the head-touching jackals ambushed him.
Adrian Beltre does not like people touching his head, but that's exactly what several Rangers teammates did after Elvis Andrus stole his batting helmet and got the first touch. Rougned Odor almost got himself killed in the line of fire after Andrus snuck off with the helmet, too.It's been a rough week for Adrian.[MLB]
