Hear Poirier's Sizzling Collaboration With NYC Dancehall Legend Red Fox "Jump"

The first offering from the Montreal producer's new album 'Migration.'
Saty + Pratha

For the last 15 years, Montreal DJ and producer Poirier (a.k.a. Ghislain Poirier) has made a name for himself making bass-heavy, dancefloor anthems that draw on grime, soca, and other worldly influences. He's put out records on noteworthy labels like Mixpak and Ninja Tune, and collaborated with artists including Crookers, dj/rupture, Face-T, and Natalie Storm.

Now he's back with a brand new 7" on London-based NICE UP! Records, "Jump," which will also appear on his forthcoming album Migration (due out March 4). "I wanted to reference the 90s dancehall vibe, but with a modern feel of my own," says Poirier of the high-energy track featuring the veteran Jamaican artist. "After I'd made the beat, Red Fox instantly came to my mind—because he IS that sound, that voice!"

Listen to the track below and grab the digital EP—which features remixes by Sam Binga and Jahrkon—Jan. 29 here.

Poirier plays Montreal's Igloofest Jan. 30, get tickets here.
