Something unusual is brewing in Brooklyn, and I'm not talking about overpriced single-origin coffee. I'm referring to the eccentric strains of machine music that are emerging from the borough's scruffy techno underground. It's a loose network of producers, labels, venues, and promoters who are unafraid to try new things and down to cause a little ruckus. One of the exciting young faces you'll find amongst this crowd is J. Albert, a fast-rising local producer with ties to freaky cult labels like Opal Tapes and Cult Trip Records. Today we're premiering "Nana - Na," which was recorded under his lesser-known DJ OSOM moniker, a track that is "intentionally restrained to cultivate tension on the dancefloor," J. Albert told THUMP. "The concept behind 'Nana - Na' is to be a tease."The track does indeed tease, with sudden shifts that kick in just as soon as you think you've got the groove. Well played, Albert.
