Trailers have never been bigger, more anticipated, or more plentiful. Or more cross-promoted: today’s newest Dark Knight Rises trailer comes courtesy again of Nokia, apparently because they have nothing better to do. Okay, something about a new Batman phone.

For those of you keeping score, this is the third proper “trailer” and the fifth preview, if you count the ten minute IMAX preview and the original teaser. This doesn’t even include the various TV spots, viral videos, and the cast’s preview presentation at the MTV movie awards. It’s not surprising how much the film is being marketed; hell it’s probably going to be solely responsible for putting Warner Brothers in the black in 2012.

While that means more chances for excellent trailer-making, it also means more duds. what is surprising is how much better the second trailer is than any of the others. Just take a look for yourself below. Number two is a work of art. This new one… Well, without exactly giving away the whole movie, is a bit bloated. If you like that sort of thing.
