“It’s time the EU stopped counting on promises from the tech platforms. We're one year into this infodemic and the numbers in our report paint a picture of consistently poor performance,” Luca Nicotra, campaign director at Avaaz said in an emailed statement.“Self regulation has failed. The new Code of Practice on Disinformation is the EU's last chance to ensure platforms can no longer mark their own exams. Instead the EU can require measurable impact by enforcing solutions that work; detoxifying their algorithms and informing EU citizens when they've been victimized by misinformation.”
