NORTHMIX: Nightizm

Encompassing everything from electronic, to hip-hop, to ambient, this Canadian producer abides by few boundaries.

Looking for the perfect soundtrack to help you look tough while driving your mom's mini-van? We present to you this installment of Northmix, courtesy of Nightizm.

The Toronto producer waltzed into 2015 with a repertoire to reckon with―from the success of his Lorde remix "A World Alone," to a collaboration with Montreal's RYAN Playground, and finally the release of his premier EP Renaissance.

Although he's commonly known for his remixes―take his rework of Schoolboy Q and Kendrick Lamar's "Blessed," for example―Nightizm also toys with ambient interludes and bass-y percussions. His Northmix is dusted with mainstream powerhouses like Nicki Minaj and J. Cole, but don't let that alarm you―we wouldn't endorse Nicki Minaj if it wasn't executed with an expert flare. Trust us. Nightizm gently eases you through one sample to the next with an eerie future bass style that has become something all his own.

"This mix is kind of like a journey through my musical taste," he says. "I started off dark and moody and brought it up slowly."
