The Paronomasiac is an Escape from the Impending Doom of Albertan Winter

Beneath the West Edmonton Mall, below the tar sands and safely nestled under the permafrost, house and techno enthusiasts hone their craft.

Deep beneath the West Edmonton Mall, below the tar sands and safely nestled under the permafrost, a devoted population of house and techno enthusiasts hone their craft during the harsh Alberta winter. With sub-zero temperatures fast approaching we reached out to our favourite Albertan imprint, Normals Welcome, for an escape from the season's impending doom. Their answer lay in the work of Nik Kozub, known on SoundCloud as The Paronomasiac. I don't know the origin of his name or what it means…but I also don't care. Skimming through the tracklist and not seeing a recognizable song is something of a rarity and is more worthy of devotion. Front to back, Nik's 32-minute mix which is unique, immensely enjoyable, and the furthest thing from Albertan you could possibly imagine.
