VICE Sports World News Roundup: June 25

Our morning roundup of the sports news from around the world.

Good morning, America. Welcome to the VICE Sports worldwide news roundup.

By far the weirdest news comes from the Copa America. Things got heated in the match match between Uruguay and tournament hosts Chile. At one point, Gonzalo Jara, a Chilean defender, fingered Uruguayan striker Edinson Cavani's butthole. Somehow, the ref didn't send off Jara, but instead awarded Cavani a second yellow card for the incident. Chile won the match 1-0.

In a Wimbledon qualifier, Dan Evans, a British tennis player, beat Matthias Bachinger 6-4, 0-6, 7-5. After the second set, which he lost in less than 20 minutes, the umpire sited Evans for "lack of effort," a violation that can result in a $20,000 dollar fine. Officials ended up dropping the charge, but for a minute it looked like Evans would have had to pay up, despite winning the match.

Some Dutch soccer fans have planned a goodbye party for outgoing FIFA president Sepp Blatter. The party is scheduled for December 1st in Zurich and some 22 thousand people have already RSVP'd. BILD, the German tabloid, is reporting the Zurich police are already freaking out about how to handle the sudden influx of partygoers.

Speaking of the Dutch, I made a small error yesterday when I said Roberto Firmino was the first big signing in this summer's Premier League transfer window. Manchester United already signed Memphis Depay, the Dutch winger, for something like 25 millions pounds. Cue the arguments about which club got the better deal.

Virginia beat Vanderbilt to win the College World Series 4-2.

This is the first time since the 2004-05 academic year that the SEC didn't take home a football, basketball OR baseball title.
