There’s something about light painting that we just can’t help but love. Maybe it’s the fact that it’s pretty easy to do but produces some impressive-looking results, maybe it’s all the innovative applications of the medium we’ve been seeing crop up recently, or maybe it’s just the fact that, if we’re being honest with ourselves, we just really, really like shiny things. Either way, we’re loving this light painted stop motion music video from Oh Yeah Wow for the single “Rippled” from Australian instrumental three-piece, All India Radio.Painstakingly composed frame by frame over the course of six months, the piece is impressively shot in camera, with all the animations created by real people, in the real world, using nothing more “high-tech” than the same kind of long exposure techniques pioneered by Man Ray back in 1935. The overall effect is lovely, and in particular, we love seeing the blurry limbs and ghostly figures of the people creating the light paintings taking form in the background for a brief moment before dissolving into the darkness like a foggy apparition you’re not even sure you saw.
