Korean-based creative studio Sticky Monster Lab use their graphic design, illustration, and motion design skills to create animations set in a universe populated by characters they call “monsters”—lovable but troubled, they’re drawn with a simple aesthetic and animated with a dark absurdity that holds a mirror up to our twisted little world. The Creators Project has teamed up with Sticky Monster Lab and several other artists for a Facebook application which will create miniature monsters that are customized based on information in your Facebook profile. More on that soon, but while you wait you can immerse yourself in their new iPad app.The app is called Report M and tells the origin story of the monsters in a playful manner. The story follows a spacecraft crash-landing on Earth and the subsequent scientific research conducted on the capsule and its contents—an alien monster—by members of Sticky Monster Lab.The story unfolds in a series of scenes with interactive elements and beautiful pop-up 3D illustrations that go into great detail about the monster’s equipment and physiology. Peppered with all kinds of documents to flesh out the story, like a strange but amusing one where you learn about whale song and a theory on why whales journey to the poles (a hangover from when they avoided giant sharks called megalodon, apparently), the app features an almost endless amount of items to explore. There’s also a very amusing autopsy video.APP GIVEAWAY: We have five codes to give away that’ll unlock a free download of the app. You can win one by watching Sticky Monster Lab’s profile video below and then answering the following question:What type of animal is the character that always follows around figure No.1?Please email answers to: create@thecreatorsproject.com.
