Goodbye to Screens

Screens, videogames. Videogames, screens. They go hand-in-hand like Milo and Otis. But what kind of friendship slavery is this? Free yourself from the technocratic dichotomy at Babycastles, that arcade we've told you a bunch about on Motherboard.

Screens, videogames. Videogames, screens. They go hand-in-hand like Milo and Otis. But what kind of friendship slavery is this? Free yourself from the technocratic dichotomy at Babycastles, that arcade we’ve told you a bunch about on Motherboard. Tonight’s the opening of F%!k the Screen, an exhibit that not only substitutes punctuation for "bad letters," but also breaks these chains of love with new games that deliberately make it difficult to see the screen, or else give them the boot entirely.

This includes Duello, Johann Sebastian Joust, and world premieres of Pole Riders and ROBO-QWOP. (And more games, too.) The afterparty includes performances by Extreme Animals, Terror Pigeon Dance Revolt, and Knife City. Plus, it's the North American premiere of Beacons of Hope, a game conducted entirely in darkness with real humans as the game characters, looking for light as they evade being captured by monsters. Live horror music for Beacons of Light will be provided by GDFX.
