In 1959, a plane carrying early rock 'n' roller Buddy Holly crashed in Iowa, killing Holly as well as Ritchie Valens and the Big Bopper, two other musicians who were traveling in the airplane at the time. The crash was blamed on pilot error, and the world mourned the loss of the musicians before penning an often-parodied song about it and collectively moving on. Apparently, though, someone didn't move on—Billboard reported today that the National Transportation Safety Board has been petitioned by a New England pilot to reopen the case. It's unclear if the pilot wants to uncover some Buddy Holly murder plot conspiracy or would just like to clear a deceased pilot's name.
