Day one
My usual view of the sunrise (top) vs the view from my bed
Leaning against a wall instead of a pillow helped me fool my brain into sitting upright and staying awake.
How I felt mentally: 7/10
Day two
I tried some light stretching for good posture, but it couldn't make up for hours of slouching.
How I felt mentally: 6/10
Day three
I woke up with a neck and shoulder ache and had to spend the entire day with a heating pad around my neck.
How I felt mentally: 4/10
Day four
I tried working in all possible positions that would allow me to use my laptop in bed, but nothing seemed to help.
With a bed table, I could sit with my legs in a criss-cross position, or extended under the table.
How I felt mentally: 6/10
Day five
How I felt mentally: 8/10In the days that have followed this experiment, I have continued to shuffle between my bed and my desk, reserving my bed for the first couple of ungodly hours in the morning where I’d rather be swallowed by my sheets than stare into my screen. But I don’t think I’ll go back to working from my bed full-time.
Although I prefer working from my desk, the bed isn't off limits anymore. Image by Wirada Saelim.
