After years of lasting political turmoil brought on by the Vietnam War, matched with the heartbreaking assassinations of JFK, MLK and RFK, America's first trip to the moon provided millions with a welcomed moment of national pride and amazement that we'd happily never forget.Photographer David Burnett, a stringer for Time, was only 22 when he arrived in Titusville, Florida 43 years ago. As many as a million people are estimated to have been in attendance. "It was so long in coming and so quickly gone," Burnett remembered, "yet it remains burned into my memory like a slow-motion movie."
