Killing It: The Belieber Edition

Zedd loves the Beebs, Azari and III are over, and Kim Dotcom is an EDM star. Read about this week's juiciest dance music gossip.

There's enough gossip going around the world of electronic music that it probably deserve
its own TMZ, Gawker, and Perez Hilton. We keep track of the drama, the beef, the LOLs, the dramatic build-ups, and the tragic drops so you don't have to. Now, let's see who killed it this week.

FLASH MOB RAVE

Flash mobs have moved on from Broadway musical-style performances in train stations. The most recent one we have seen is this one at the Met. This flash mob's participants played Aphex Twin's "Cliffs" while lying down on the floor with their instruments. We hate to say this, but it was just plain corny.

ZEDD IS A BELIEBER

We had to check if we spelled Belieber right because superfans have that shit on Google Alert and are just waiting to jump in the comments section and correct people. Zedd was on Twitter the other night expressing his love for the Beebs. Even if Knife Party doesn't approve, he seems to be a very big fan. We smell a future collab.

WAKA FLOCKA RAVE

Since "releasing the album name" is considered news now, Waka kept himself in the news by doing so. He has decided to call his fothcoming EDM/rap album Flockaveli Psychotics. So bad it's good?

EVIAN CHRIST GETS EMOTIONAL OVER KANYE

seriously tho being in nyc seeing an artist i looked up to since i was a kid perform a song i produced to like 15k ppl realest shit ever

This just made us smile. Every big DJ should tweet like this. The 24-year-old Evian Christ was plucked from obscurity to be one of the producers of Kanye's Yeezus album, with the track "I'm In It" become his career's first major production credit—quite the feat. It's no wonder that the young British producer had a lot of #feelings while watching Kanye's NYC show earlier this week. He also just announced that his next four-track EP, Waterfall, will be out on Tri Angle next year.

KIM DOTCOM IS AN EDM STAR

The worlds biggest troll releasing an EDM album? Makes perfect sense. This week he told Wired about his new plans. We hope to be the ones to premiere this. Also, shoutout to Do Androids Dance for lurking his Soundcloud and finding this gem.

DEMF IS BACK FROM THE DEAD

After a decade the original Detroit Electronic Music Festival will be back! DEMF, which then became Fuse-In and then eventually Movement, will take place at Campus Martius Park in July, and be free just like old times. Don't worry though Movement will still be taking place in May as it always does.

AZARI AND III IS NO MORE

We are sad to hear that the fab quartet has called it quits and even sadder to say that we found out on Facebook. We wish the best to all four members on their individual journeys, but we also think that far too few people were able to catch the group's spectacular live show. Can we call a Coachella reunion for next year?

DANNY BROWN IS BORED WITH AMERICAN MOLLY

Earlier this week, Danny Brown told Mixmag that "molly's so popular over here now that anything could appear as molly and they'd sell it to you. I just got so tired of taking molly and nothing happening! I don't want to get conned." He continued, "In Europe it's good. But not at home." You tell 'em Danny. Dancesafe would be proud.
