The last time we heard from Dylan Scheer, aka Via App, she had shared "Zolissa," a delectably uneasy, eleven-minute tripper. Since then, she's announced a new 12" on Vancouver label 1080p, titled 7 Headed, and shared its lead single, "Baby K Interaction." Kicking off with IDM-friendly synth arpeggios that you're not even sure are in 4/4, the piece eventually turns into arguably the most jacking track we've heard from Scheer thus far. The whole thing bangs and messes up your mind at the same damn time, effortlessly.
Scheer's approach remains decidedly jarring on the track, with a vocal sample from someone we can only assume is Baby K, who commands the proceedings with an itchy, off-kilter pervasiveness, matched with weirdly-pitched percussion. Eventually, we experience a kind of irreverent cheering crowd sample to bring the whole thing to the finish line. Check out the track below, with the EP art and tracklist.
