Australian Streetwear Supremo DJ Perks Has Turned in this Seriously Trippy Exclusive Mix

Expect 65 minutes of hi-octane zoners, raucous rumbles, breakbeat oddities, sunbaked acid workouts, piston-precise fuzz-techno, avant-turntablism and more from one half of Perks and Mini.

Anyone out there with even a modicum of taste is probably aware of Australian streetwear brand Perks and Mini. If you're anything like us you've probably spent hours drooling over their sweaters, tees and caps wishing you were as lucky as the fuckers you've seen around town clad head to toe in it. You might not know, however, that one half of the dream team is also a ridiculously good DJ. Mischa Hollenbach, aka DJ Perks, founded Perks and Mini with his wife Shauna way back when in 2000. Since then, they've become well known for their fun, breezy approach to a world that's occasionally consumed by self-seriousness and self-mythology.

The P.A.M. aesthetic has bled into Hollenbach's non-fashion work. He's a filmmaker, artist, designer and DJ, as happy to direct ethnographic documentaries with Thomas Bullock as he is knocking out 12" sleeves for other artists. In short, he's a really talented dude and we're very envious of him. Being a nice guy Mischa let us bask in a bit of his glow by sending a mix over for our delectation. We loved it and we think you will too. When we first asked Hollenbach to record something for us we were, through the semi-regular P.A.M mixes which pop up ever so often, aware that he wasn't going to turn in some rote hour of dry-as-fuck tech house. He even got in touch to seek some directional advice from us here at THUMP. What did we want? "Pump?! Weirdo?, dark and raw? Ambient?? These are my genres at the mo… "

We went for some serious pump action and we got it. Expect 65 minutes of hi-octane zoners, raucous rumbles, breakbeat oddities, sunbaked acid workouts, piston-precise fuzz-techno, avant-turntablism and more. We trippy mayne.
