In the run-up to the Rio Olympics, things are going from bad to worse. Not only is the nation in a state of political and economic turmoil, but now the state of Rio de Janeiro is flat out broke. Per Reuters: "Rio de Janeiro's governor declared a state of financial emergency…to avoid 'a total collapse in public security, health, education, transport and environmental management,' a decree in the state's Official Gazette said." Yikes!

In the European Cup, France failed to beat Switzerland. In the match, France hit the post a few times and managed to tear the Puma-produced shirts of four Switzerland players. After the match, Xherdan Shaqiri quipped to a Swiss tabloid, "I hope Puma doesn't produce condoms."

Mexico is in a state of mourning after the Mexican national team was skewered and roasted like so many anticuchos. It was a total collapse by the Mexicans. They lost their quarterfinal match 7-0. Yikes!
