Manchester United took a 2-0 lead over Liverpool into the half thanks to an offside goal from Juan Mata and this goal smoked by Wayne Rooney. Antonio Valencia split two defenders with some slick handles and then crossed the ball back to the top of the penalty area where Rooney was bearing down with a full head of steam. He was able to stride right into the ball and uncork a laser into the back of the net.

The chance came seconds after Raheem Sterling was denied at the front of the net on a great chance and United collected the ball and pushed it up the pitch. During the push, Philippe Coutinho had Rooney marked…and then he didn't. Rooney ran free to the ball and was able to smash it, undisturbed.
