It's a commuter's prerogative whether to be upbeat or a grumpy a-hole on the Monday morning work commute. But sullen commuters were met with something out of the ordinary when they walked to work across London Bridge at the beginning of this week: the usual grey concrete was changed into a 984' long rainbow walkway. It was part of Spark Your City, an initiative which invites different women to "transform ordinary city routines and landmarks into extraordinary living playgrounds" through events and temporary installations in 50 cities across the globe. Yesterday marked the start of it all when radio presenter Gemma Cairney combatted Monday blues with something that looks like Mario Kart-level Rainbow Road. Next up is something called Urban Jungle, which will also be in London on August 12. Other cities taking part will be Miami, Mexico City, Istanbul, Hong Kong, and Tokyo.
