Creators Remix Roundup Week 19

Mark Ronson & The Business Intl. venture Down Under and Alex Clare goes dubstep. Plus a mixtape from Animal Collective.

Our Creators are a very talented and prolific bunch, and our inbox is always cluttered with alerts of new remixes and mashups from the incredible DJs and producers in our line-up. We just couldn't keep these fresh new tunes to ourselves because, after all, filesharing is caring. Here are our top picks from the past week.

Tame Impala: “Solitude Is Bliss” (Mark Ronson & The Business Intl. remix)

While everyone in the music realm was focused on SXSW last week, Mark Ronson & The Business Intl. were busy Down Under. They made an appearance at Tripple J radio station on Tom and Alex’s morning show, where they appropriately covered Australian dream/psych/pop band Tame Impala’s “Solitude is Bliss.” Featuring Rose Elinor Dougal, Chris Vatalaro, and Andrew Wyatt (of Miike Snow), their rendition takes an acoustic turn generating a much more low-key sound than any of their songs on Record Collection. Seems like they’re really feeling the solitude… and so are we.

Alex Clare: “Too Close” (prod. by Diplo and Switch)

London-based musician Alex Clare says he won’t break promises, but he’s definitely breaking hearts in this one. The video’s location—set in a distressed Victorian-era warehouse—is well-suited for this soulful breakup song (trivia: Did you know Clare used to date Amy Winehouse?), but with Diplo and Switch churning out wompy bassline effects on the refrain, this track makes for an uplifting walk out.

Animal Collective: All Tomorrow’s Parties Mixtape

We particularly like the All Tomorrow’s Parties festival because every year they let a band select and curate all the music on the roster. This year Animal Collective takes the helm and has produced a two-hour playlist featuring Gang Gang Dance, Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti, Kurt Vile, Big Boi, Beach House and more. Download above and if you live in the UK, tickets for this year’s festivities (May 13-15th) are on sale now.

CREATOR BONUS ANNOUNCEMENT

Over the past couple months, rumors of a Flaming Lips and Neon Indian collaboration have been making waves on Twitter, and finally they have something to show for it. They’ve released a 12" EP, which is presently only available in two record stores, one in Oklahoma City and one Dallas. Each unique 12" is printed on specially colored vinyl, one of which you can see above.
