Funk music is awesome. I know this because I’m a human being and it’s actually impossible to hear a Prince song without wanting to dance (poorly, if you’re me). But admittedly, my knowledge in this genre of music is a little weak. However, one of my good friends—his name is Dan Rys and one time he wrote about the blunt culture on Instagram and made a sex playlist of Prince songs for the horny Olympians—is a massive fan of funk music (I’m pretty sure he had a funk-specific show in college and went by the nickname Dr. Funkedan). Anyway, because Noisey is stoked to premiere “Cocaine Lady” below, a new song from Zackey Force Funk from his upcoming record Money Green Viper (out July 15), I decided to ask Dan over gchat for some ways to describe funk.
