A report earlier this week alleged that Lil Wayne and Cash Money Records had finally settled in their fraught and long-running legal battle. Now, an update from Lil Wayne’s attorney Ron Sweeney, of Sweeney, Johnson and Sweeney LLC, confirms that Wayne has reached a settlement with Birdman and co. “The matter has been amicably resolved to the satisfaction of all parties,” said Sweeney in a statement to Billboard. “I can say that my client is happy. He is his own man, a man that owns his assets, his music and himself. At some point, Wayne will let his fans know what’s going to happen next.”

This marks the end of a gruelling three-year legal battle for Wayne after he sued Cash Money Records for $51 million, claiming Cash Money and Birdman had violated the terms of his contract, withheld money from Wayne, and delayed the release of his record Tha Carter V. The end of the lawsuit means that we could be getting Tha Carter V very soon! PUSHA-T recently referenced the Wayne/Cash Money dispute in his DAYTONA track "Infrared".
