PIXADORES RULE

My

SÓPIXO

sticker album is really cool, right? I can't really remember what year I got it and there is no date on it. I believe it was between the eras of Napster and Soulseek if that helps narrow it down. Whatever: I found it in a graffiti shop in downtown São Paulo, and it's an album made by the

pixadores

themselves.

Pixadores

are the guys responsibles for all the

pixos

in Brazil.

Pixo

is like tagging, but without the part where most of it looks like something a 10-year-old girl would draw on her binder in paint-pen. The letters are geometrical to cover the most space possible, and the general idea is to bomb places so difficult and dangerous to get to that they put most American "graffiti artists" and death-metal fontists to shame.

Most Brazilians hate it. People think it's ugly and filthy and even "fascist"--quotation marks because I've only heard one person say that and she never explained exactly what she meant. In any case I really like pixos. I even have a tattoo of a pixo that I won't show here because it's in an "intimate area."

But back to the album, I collected the stickers and tried to complete it for a long time. And when they finally released SÓPIXO 2 album, they decided to sell the complete set of stickers. Nice! But there was one missing--number 60. So I have the whole album, but this one. Hit me up in the comments if you know where I can get one. ANDRÉ MALERONKA
