LONDON - I HOPE YOU DIE SOON

London College of Fashion graduates Fanny and Jessy have a studio behind Shoreditch House, the worst place in the world. Their debut unisex collection is optimistically called I Hope You Die Soon. Clearly they're taking inspiration from the psychegeographical surroundings.

Fanny and Jessy's designs feature "top heavy structured garments [this means big shoulders] mixed with oversize slouchy pieces." Amazingly, while their clothes look quite mad out and about, they don't transform the wearer into a second-rate Gaga. Here they are with their skinny PR guy Peewee wearing their gear.

Vice: So what's your collection about?

Fanny: Well, it's about having fun and not having a nervous breakdown.

Jesse: We hated London College of Fashion and we didn't really want to do our third year--all we could see was drowning in loads of work and hating it. So we decided to do a collection together and make it as much fun as possible.

So who else is involved with upcoming launch?

Art director Danny Sangra, who we live with, just did our film and helped us out with the logo and artwork, and Dave i.d did the show music.

Fanny: Well the collection is called I Hope You Die Soon.

Jessy: But the collection has a lot of color. We wanted it to be bright because we wanted it to be fun, but we got halfway through and I freaked out and said, "Fanny, we're not using any color, we're doing it in black, white, cream, and gray." But I'm glad we kept the color in, because it's a contrast with the whole "I Hope You Die Soon" thing.

What made you decide to show outside of fashion week?

We kind of didn't want to show at fashion week with the more established names and we wanted to show before everyone went away in August.

Fanny: The collection is not really seasonal, but that's England, isn't it? It's a rainy summer collection. Thanks, I love your stuff, see you at the show.
