Watch Some Classic Films and Eat Some Sate With Mouly Surya and VICE

We're all huge fans of Indonesian director Mouly Surya, the woman behind Fiksi, Yang tidak dibicarakan ketika membicarakan cinta, and the new Marlina, The Murderer in Four Acts. Her new movie is a Western-styled revenge yarn shot in Sumba and it looks great. So to celebrate the movie's release, we're back with another VICE Guide to Film, this one on the films that most-influenced Mouly's latest work.

Come out to Paviliun 28, in Gandaria, South Jakarta, to watch the classics Once Upon a Time in The West, Dead Man, and Tokyo Story. We're calling the whole thing "sate Western" and we've got the sate carts to prove it. —Regan Reuben

Get Artsy at the Jakarta Biennale 2017

In the mood to enjoy contemporary art? Jakarta Biennale 2017—with jiwa, or soul, as its central theme—kicks off this Saturday and runs until 11 December. The opening night of Jakarta Biennalle 2017 will be held at Gudang Sarinah Ekosistem and will include work from artists across Southeast Asia, Australia, Japan, Europe and South Africa.—Regan Reuben

At the same time, Yogyakarta also throws their own Biennale, called the Biennale Jogja XVI Equator #4. It's a bit different from other Yogya biennales, because the artists are more diverse this time. There's a good balance of artists from Jakarta, Bandung, and Yogyakarta. This is special because usually there are unseen walls that keep those artists from collaborating. Hopefully this Biennale can break down those walls. —Ananda Badudu

'Posesif' Is the Only Indonesian Anti-Rom Com You Need to See This Year

Relationships. Some are great. Some are boring. And some are downright dangerous. The new Indonesian film Posesif concerns itself with the last one, training its lens on an abusive relationship that's sure to get people talking. I saw the film earlier this week, and let me tell you, it's worth the ticket price. The cinematography and soundtrack really stand out, even if I was totally cringing when they all started singing "Dan," by Sheila on 7 in the car.

Go see it with your friends, talk about it, and tweet about what it all means. Keep the conversation going. Because, at the end of the day, the only thing worse than an abusive relationship is pretending it never happened. —Syarafina Vidyadhana

Shop 'Til You Drop at Brightspot

Brightspot is a Jakarta institution. Do you really need me to tell you about how it's got more than 150 venders, live music, and amazing food all in one place? Do you need to be reminded that it's the place to be this weekend? Do we have to tell you that it's at the PIK Avenue Ballroom this time? Yeah, probably not. But we did anyway. Just go this Saturday. Here's the schedule. We'll see you there. —Regan Reuben

Shake Your Ass at 'Gegap Gempita'

Who cares that Halloween is over? Now it's your chance to get one more night out of that ridiculous lumberjack costume with Pon Your Tone's third anniversary party "Gegap Gempita." It's going to be a night of dangdut, disco, and dance, with VICE favorites Diskoria, Dipha Barus, Ramengvrl, and Sunmantra on the decks. The whole thing is happening at The Establishment in SCBD Lot 6 this Saturday. — Yudhistira Agato
