On Wednesday, Mount Sinabung on Sumatra sent a 1.5-mile column of ash into the air, and farther east in Vanuatu, nearly 11,000 people have fled from the Manaro Voui volcano.Scientists recorded 844 earthquakes at Mount Agung on Monday, and their increasing frequency indicates magma is moving toward the surface. The volcano killed more than 1,100 people when it last exploded in 1963.Scientists say the seismic activity means an eruption is likely — they just don't know when.
