The suspect also gouged out the victim's eyes, all because of a disagreement about gardening tools.

Sharing your tools with neighbours is convenient. It saves you both time and money and, in most cases, helps solidify your relationship as friends. Unfortunately, this isn’t what happened for these neighbours in Indonesia, where a simple argument about gardening tools turned into a scene straight out of a gory movie.

On Monday, February 24, a village chief was arrested after allegedly gouging out a farmer’s eyes and cutting off his genitals, effectively murdering him in Bulukumba, South Sulawesi, Tribun News reported.

The reason for the spat? The farmer, 55-year old Paba, refused to lend the village chief, 60-year-old Abdul Muin, his water fertilizer pump and pesticides. The two had an argument at the victim’s house that quickly turned deadly.

“At first, the victim hit the suspect several times. And then the suspect retaliated. The suspect then gouged out the victim’s eyes with his fingers,” Bery Juana Putra, head of the Bulukumba Police’s Crime Investigation Unit, told reporters.

Muin then allegedly grabbed a machete in the house and used the weapon to cut off Paba’s genitals, which eventually killed him.

According to police, Muin was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the murder.

"Before going to the victim's house to take the pump, Abdul Muin drank ballo (liquor made from palm trees)," said Putra.

The victim’s body is still at the Sulthan Regional Hospital Dg Radja Bulukumba, while the suspect is detained at the Bulukumba Police Headquarters.

In Indonesia, premeditated murder can get you life imprisonment, but it looks like Muin will only be charged with murder, which is why he could only be sentenced to up to 15 years in jail.
