The Chainsmokers Said They "Basically Brain-Raped" Calvin Harris

It seems clear at this point that they are not getting PR training.

Against all odds, American EDM duo The Chainsmokers has continued their streak of using interviews to candidly indulge their "frat bro" tendencies. In a piece published yesterday in Rolling Stone, they say they "basically brain-raped" fellow superstar producer Calvin Harris (by "asking him all these questions"), make dick jokes, and talk about drunkenly beating each other up in a cab after going to a strip club in Mexico.

That's just the tip of the iceberg, of course. At one point band member Alex Pall reviews Lady Gaga's new single "Perfect Illusion," saying it "sucks." The other Chainsmoker, Andrew Taggart, is a little more even-handed in his comments about the artist, though: "She's a great artist—like, Jeff Koons made a sculpture of her," he says.

Elsewhere in the piece they talk about Rihanna rejecting their demo for the song "Don't Let Me Down," and decide it's not a big deal. Pall explains why: "because young unknown artists have this hunger—they're willing to work really hard," he says, neglecting to think of the work that might have gone into the Barbadian singer's eight acclaimed studio LPs recorded over an illustrious 11 year career.

They also share their thoughts on Deadmau5, who has previously tweeted about them saying, "The only thing @TheChainsmokers and pop EDM have in common is probably cancer." Although the Canadian producer was apparently one of Pall's heroes at one point, "Now his brand is less about his music and more about his personality, which is being a dick."

Last month, we took on the challenge and investigated the duo's case for ourselves: are The Chainsmokers really "just frat bro dudes" in disguise?
