Sydney-based electronic pop artist, Elizabeth Rose, is about to embark on a nationwide tour, playing her new album Intra. An intimate, starkly honest pop record, Rose sharpens her skills as a songwriter and portrays her extensive background in production.Today, Elizabeth Rose announces the local supports who are joining her across various cities: Alwyn Lewis, Annie Bass, Baro, Batts, Jordan Burns & Left. In celebration, she made us a mix exclusively featuring these artists and we asked her some questions. Listen & check the tour dates below.
Do you remember the age you were when you decided to get into music, and how it happened?I remember it well - I was about 8 or 9 years old watching my older brother Anthony (now DJ Hook N Sling) produce his music at home & I was so fascinated by it. I knew then that this was what I wanted to do.What music were you about when you were a kid? And what got you interested in electronic music?I grew up loving a whole lot of pop and R&B–it's how I learnt to sing, I would listen to Mariah Carey and Christina Aguilera over and over again until I could mimic their vocal inflections and runs. I listened to a lot of Pharrell and Timbaland too because I just loved the production in their beats. I didn't get into making electronic music until I was in my teens when I got given Ableton Live software by my brother and I went nuts playing around with sound and recording myself and cutting it up.What is Intraabout to you?Intra is about turning myself inside out–showing every facet of who I am. My flaws, my dreams, my love & my fears and everything in between. It's the first time I've really shown myself quite boldly in my writing. I didn't hold back at all. What are you listening to at the moment?I listen to a whole smorgasbord of different styles! At the moment I'm listening to a lot of house & techno (that's what I play when I DJ). My favourite producer in the field is Kink. How did the interactive video for "Playing With Fire" come about?Google approached me last year because they liked my music & after a few big meetings, we came up with the concept of creating an interactive clip that resonated with the meaning of the song: being "played" in a relationship. What's in store for the live show?Exciting live visuals! Dancers! Fun outfits! New tunes!Tell us about the mix you've made us.This mix is a sneak peak into the kind of music you're gonna hear on my album tour - including music from the supports in each city! Loads of great tunes/bangerz.Elizabeth Rose tour dates:Sat 04 Jun – Jack Rabbit Slims, Perth
