Killing It: Tiesto and Courtney Cuddle Edition
America's best DJ is a straightedge Mormon, Skream's gone disco, grime's in a war. The best DJ gossip of the week.
There's enough gossip going around the world of electronic music that it probably deserves its own TMZ, Gawker, and Perez Hilton. We keep track of the drama, the beef, the LOLs, the dramatic build-ups, and the tragic drops so you don't have to. Now, let's see who killed it this week.DISCOSTEP
Skream put out a new song and video this week for "Rollercoaster" and it's a bit...errr...different? A bit—well, a lot—really mainstream disco. You watch and decide. We predict that there will be a lot of Skream RTing people this week.
COURTNEY LOVE AND TIESTO MAKE SWEET MUS
We love that Tiesto's shirt says "Join a weird trip" because this picture is the weirdest trip of all.
RIHANNA GOES GHETTO GOTH
Looks like someone's been paying attention to Venus X and her GHE20 G0TH1K party... again. Rihanna, who has already "gone seapunk" and been seen wearing Hood By Air several times (Shayne, half of GG, is behind the HBA clothing line), has been posting pics under her new theme she has been calling "Ghetto Goth." It's no secret that all of these celebrities' stylists are on Tumblr and Instagram lurking people like Venus and Jerome LOL but it's just funny to watch.
KASKADE WINS AMERICA'S BEST DJ
In an event that shocked absolutely no one, Mormon straightedge prog house heartthrob Kaskade wins DJ Times and Pioneer's America's Best DJ contest again. God is a DJ. Are we still talking about this? Etc.
So what's worse, all of the DJs/producers that are gonna be mad about this product or everything about this ever?
GET WELL SOON, APPARAT
Apparat and his ladyfriend got into a motorcycle accident and he and Modeselektor have had to cancel all of their Moderat dates. Luckily, he is ok but it is going to take him a while to learn how to walk again. The tour dates are rescheduled for early next year and he's in our thoughts, along with Berlin currywurst.
This is great! All of the grime producers are at "war" right now. A war of beats and dubs, that is. JME started it and everyone has jumped in to participate aka "fight the war." Stoney Roads explained it best here and check all of the productions below.
